This astonishing* cave has inspired Celtic legends and modern art and it's a part of National Nature Resorce. What makes this sea cave* so amazing is the hexagonal columns of basalt that make up its interior walls. It was created by the ancient* lava flow about 60 million years ago. It size and naturally arched* roof and the eerie sounds produced by the echos of waves* give it the atmosphere of a natural cathedral. The cave's Gaelic name "An Uaimh Bhim" means "the melodious cave".
